Face Shields Delivered - 4164

As everyone knows, cases of COVID19 continue to increase across Florida and even in our area.  The requests have started again for face shields and ear savers for healthcare professionals and those working with vulnerable populations.

As the demand for faceshields continues, the price for the materials to build them has gone up.

A roll of plastic filament that can product over 80 face shields now $25.

A pack of plastic sheets has gone up to $22 per 100.

Please spread the word. There are more facilities in need, but they don't know about us yet and we want to help!

Good news is the cost of the machine that can make 24 masks each day now only cost $500. So each machine we add speeds up the delivery of face shields.

For the last 2 weeks we’ve been testing out a few different 3d printed mask and face shield designs for healthcare professionals.

We’ve talked to local doctors and vet clinics in St. Pete and researched what others are doing across the country and world wide. After talking with local officials we’ve determined this Face Shield is what we can produce the quickest and make the biggest impact on local equipment needs.

Through the Pinellas COVID-19 3D Printing Response Team we coordinating volunteers through St. Pete Makers and other 3D professionals we know though Tangible Labs.

We are proud and excited to be helping with our first big request to St Anthony’s ICU this week but also pissed that they need this help!

We will continue to do what we can but I am afraid the request will soon become overwhelming. But i'm getting connected to other teams so hopefully we can collectively help meet the most critical needs.

If you know anyone with a 3d printer, please send them our 3D Printer Volunteer form.

My heart goes out to all the healthcare workers and their families!
